Zagreb Film was established as early as 1953 and is considered to be the most significant producer and distributor of Croatian animated films. It has produced more than six hundred animated films.
Even after half a century of existence Zagreb Film is still a creative and active company, producing several films a year. Since the foundation of the Zagreb School of Animated Film, techniques, themes and views on animation have progressively developed. The series of 1997−2008 short films will show new trends and procedures significant in the actual production of Zagreb Film. Among today's successful and reputable directors are Daniel Šuljić, Nicole Hewitt, Davor Međurečan, Goran Trbuljak and Tomislav Gregl – we will be guided through a selection of their diverse productions by reputable director, painter, graphic designer, music composer and professor (Zagreb's Department for Animated Film and New Media) Darko Bakliža. He has concentrated on animated film since 2002 and has made several films which predominantly use the techniques of 2D and 3D animation and pixilation.
