8.-11. 12. | 16:00 | Festival Animation Now!, Gdansk, Poland | CAUTION! FRESHLY ANIMATED | screening
CAUTION! FRESHLY ANIMATED! is a cooperative project of Animation Now! Festival from Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia), Poland and PAF Festival of Film Animation from Olomouc, Czech Rep. promoting young artists from both countries who work using different animation techniques.
Young Polish Animation DVD presents films picked from the participants in a domestic contest of the most interesting recent productions. Selected animations stand out because of their unique form and narration, fresh way of joining screen and music, and innovative mix of traditional and modern techniques – 2D computer animation, clay, drawing and doll animation, mixed techniques, and even animated wool or poured sugar.
Other Visions of Czech animation represents such works of art that are more often seen in displays than in cinemas. Their authors usually do not have any academic film education, but in most cases they come from artistic backgrounds. Thus they are well informed about the development of 20th century art that was dominated by the media of photography, film and video, as well as many artistic styles and movements. To these authors, moving pictures are only one of the many expressive possibilities they can use to create films lacking film narration and tight narrative structures. The selection follows the most distinctive tendencies – other visions that have happened in Czech animation since 2007.

28. 10. | 17:00 - 18:30 | Café Tungsram, Jihlava | RE-EDITS | film screening and presentation
These videos are inspired by experimental and feature film with historical references and quotations. It is not about classic found-footage, but rather about targeted recycling of film cultural prints. These references serve as a construction of new meanings that, in extreme situations, lack fictional starting points and are gradually heading for image abstraction.
Represented artists:
Matěj Strnad, Roman Štětina, Alena Kotzmannová, Martin Kohout, Daniel Pitín, Filip Cenek, András Cséfalvay, Michal Pěchouček
29. 10. | 17:00 - 18:30 | Café Tungsram, Jihlava | VIDEO, SOUND, CLIPS | film screening and presentation
The starting point of Dominik Gajarský's selection is a classical form of video clip as well as an individual work on audio components appearing in video production. The generationally problematic area of Czech video clips contrasts with the unambitious illustration of sound and bustle. The programme which follows has been created by Jan Šrámek (VJ Kolouch) and will include contemporary works that use various animation techniques.
