OTHER VISIONS 2010
The Festival of Animation appeal on registration of films into the competition called Other Vision 2010. The curatorship of this year's selection of films was given to Sylvia Poláková who is theorist of New Arts. Films and videos can be sent to the address of the festival till November 10, 2010.
The competition Other Visions is curatorial selection of audiovisual works. The main aim of the competition is to open up and evaluate works of professionals as well as amateurs which are permeating art as well as film scene in original way. The dramaturgy of Other Visions is looking for visually and narrative original projects which are on the edge of art, video art and animation. The competition is implemented within the Festival of Animation which works with the animation category in much broader interpretative framework than is usual. There it is accepted classic animation, work with manipulated image, text, section of feature film or record of performance etc. Consequently, the work with film and video moving images in their largest scale is expected.
Ten chosen works will be screened and installed in the area of Art Centre of Palacký University during the festival. The chosen works will be also presented in the supporting catalogue. Annually the sum of ten competing films and videos is depended upon curatorial selection of called up theorists and artists of Czech art and film. Every year is the assignee changed as well as the jury consisting of three members.
The works have to be the outcome of independent, non-commercial approach toward the production (the competition does not deal with advertisements, key-signatures and commercial orders). The condition is that all the films and videos have to originate or be produced within the Czech Republic; they have to befit for projection in cinema and gallery. The works have to be older more than 18 months retroactively since the date of selection closure i.e. November 10, 2010.
